What it takes to be a Gee-Gee
Being a
Gee-Gee rugby player goes beyond putting on the jersey and attending
practices. Coach Robinson expects every player to be the best he can be
on and off the field and also be an ambassador for the sport of rugby. A
Gee-Gee will commit to the team and take every opportunity to promote the growth
and acceptance of rugby as a fun and exciting sport that everyone can enjoy.
Each Gee-Gee player should keep the following in mind not only during the
season but throughout the year:
Enthusiasm
- Commitment to the Gee-Gees all
season
- Passion for the game
- Belief that rugby is a
life-style; when you’re in it, it’s your life
- Attendance at all practices
- Meeting the beep test standards
Self-improvement
- Desire to elevate your game
through continuous improvement
- Train with the Rugby Canada
Super League team in your area. In Ottawa
the team is the Harlequins
- Play spring/summer club rugby
in your hometown
- Look for opportunities to play
rugby overseas (England,
Australia, New Zealand, France)*
- Live a healthy life-style
Rugby community involvement
- Take the Rugby Canada training
to be a rugby coach and/or rugby referee
- Volunteer to coach/referee at
the high school or elementary school level
- Get involved with mini-rugby or
a rugby club in your area
- Encourage quality players to
attend Ottawa U and play for the Gee-Gees
- Recruit others who are going to
Ottawa U. that have played rugby
